Port Pollença
Platja del Port de Pollença or de Levante is situated at six kilometres from Pollença, between Platja de Can Cullerassa and Port de Pollença. Although there is a high development, touristic aswell as residential, it has still the quiet atmosphere it used to have in the past, which explains that this coastal stretch has been an artistic inspiration. Agatha Christie set her short story Problem in Pollença in this place and the catalan painter Anglada Camarassa lived in the port. This extremely long sandy area which is very narrow at the same time has suffered a regeneration and an artificial expansion with the introduction of coarse-grained sand. Some years ago there was no beach and no sand. The creation has been possible thanks to the breakwater that was built. At a few metres from the coastal stretch of the bay of Pollença there are some pine trees. The marine and underwater conditions in this bay are not the best ones for anchoring boats, because there is a maximum depth of two metres at a small distance from the coast on a sandy ground, and the strong wind blows from the east- southeast-south. Nevertheless during the summer there are lots of sailing boats anchoring in this area. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left on a free parking area. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located at a few metres from this beach. These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists. Information about this beach may change.
