Cala Rotja

Cala Roja is situated at nine kilometres from Artà, between na Terres and Cova dels Alberdans. From this beautiful beach there will be again a flat coastline, in coincidence with the valley of Torrent de Canyamel, which gives the name to a beach nearby as well as to a village. Until this geographical point the coast is characterized by the mountains, with a very shaped profile between the nearby Punta des Pi and na Terres. Nevertheless, this sea entrance, which is divided into two parts by a rocky headland, is surrounded by medium-high cliffs. The water in this marine area between the nearby Cala Roja and Cap des Pinar are really excellent for diving and speleodiving, you will be able to see the rocky prolongation of the walls of three tunnels (Cala Roja), a submarine cave at a depth of seven metres (Punta des Pi), a lot of crevices, galleries, open spaces and a large variety of underwater fauna until a depth of 20 metres (in the area of sa Bategora des Gegant and rock that emerges in front of these cliffs) or the cave Cova del Congre at a depth of 20 metres (Cap des Pinar). The proximity to Torre de Canyamel makes it possible to reach on foot the defence tower of the 13th century which is one of the most populars in Majorca because of its windows with Roman arch, battlements and other particularities.
