Marina
Platja de sa Marina is situated at 1,4 kilometres from Alcúdia and very near s’Albufereta de Pollença. This wetland is 150 hectares wide (three kilometres long and one kilometres large), rich in autochthonous migratory birds, as well as bogs and agricultural land. The wetland area is under municipal protection, whereas the coastline (dunes and beaches) is considered urban area. This stretch of coast of Alcúdia is full of greyish rocks, as a result of the accumulation of posidonia, which provoked an unpleasant smell. Nevertheless in the surroundings there is a village with the same name and different touristic buildings. These characteristics explain that the beach is not very crowded by the residents of this area or the tourists, but there are lots of campers, although it is prohibited. Platja sa Marina has a very gentle slope and calm water, and this is the reason why in front of the coast there are many small boats anchoring. The nearest port facilities are located at Port de Pollença, at three nautical miles. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs from Pollença or Alcúdia. You will reach Platja sa Marina from this last village passing through a thick pine wood. Here you can leave your car for free. It is also possible to reach the beach by bus. The nearest bus stop is located at a few metres from the beach. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards’ instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. For health and safety reasons, the municipal ordinances ban pets on beaches. Information about this beach may change.
