Albercuix 

Platja d’Albercuix or d’Albercutx is situated at six kilometres from Pollença, between Port de Pollença and Punta de l’Avançada. There is a lot of very small beaches with fine-grained sand along this very long coastal stretch. On the left side you will see the military naval and seaplane base. In the middle of Punta de l’Avançada there is la Fortalesa and on the sea end there is a lighthouse. Pine trees, tamarisks, summer residences and hotels belong to this landscape of Albercuix. La Fortalesa was built in 1622 in order to defend the bay of Pollença from the pirate attacks. During the Civil War a seaplane base was built, where Ramón Franco has been, after expropriating this finca to the argentine artist Roberto Romaugé, who had known this place thanks to another famous resident of Pollença, the catalan painter Anglada Camarassa. Romaugé bought the area and converted the fortress into an artist centre, where Joseph de Creef, Andrés Segovia, Tito Cittadini or Joaquín Sorolla have been. The marine and underwater conditions are not good for anchoring boats because of the very gentle slope, at three hectometres from the coast there still a depth of only one metre on a sandy ground. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left on a free parking area. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located in the surroundings. These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists. Information about this beach may change.
