S’Arenal d’en Casat or ses Assussenes is situated at two kilometres from Can Picafort, between Punta Llarga de Son Real and Punta des Patró, and it belongs to the Àrea Natural d’Especial Interès de Son Real. The name of ses Assussenes (iris in English) comes from the presence of these white marine flowers in the surroundings. This virgin and extensive sandy area is surrounded by a system of dunes which is fixed by a vast pine wood of Son Real, bushes and scrubland, whereas the roots of the bushes come out of the white and fine-grained sand. There are lots of arqueological rests (Necrópolis de Son Real and Illa des Porros). The gentle slope makes bathing easier, although on the coast you will find a mixture of sand and posidonia. The conditions for anchoring boats are excellent. The depth is 2,3 metres at one and a half hectometres from the coast. The nearest port facilities are located at Port Esportiu de Can Picafort, at one nautical mile. The accessibility by car is difficult. The most daring drivers destruct this paradise coming here with four-wheel drive vehicles from the nearby beach of Platja des Dolç or on a track from the pine wood of Son Real. The civilized visitors come on foot from Son Bauló, on a wonderful 1,5 kilometres walk, passing na Patana. You can also reach the beach on foot from the houses of the possessió de Son Real on a trail that starts from the road between Alcúdia and Artà. This is why this beach is normally not frequented by local visitors and tourists. Information about this beach may change.
