Cala en Porter is situated at 11 kilometres from Alaior, located between morros Escalat and Ponent as well as next to the village with the same name. In the west of Cala en Porter you will find Talaia de ses Penyes, built on 68 metres high rocks. A huge sinuous sea inlet and the mouth of Torrent de Cala en Porter form a shell-shaped beach and a wetland at the rear. The coastal stretch is also characterized by the high cliffs, on the top of which you have vegetation on the right side and residential houses on the left side. Nearly at the end you will see Cova d’en Xoroi, which is nowadays a discotheque with spectacular panoramic views and in the past, it was said to be inhabited by a Moor with only one ear. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not safe in this sea inlet if the weather is not good or during the night, because it is not sheltered from the winds from the south and it is not very deep either. If you want to do this manoeuvre you should approach the beach, where there is a depth of three metres. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings. You can also reach this beach with the public transport in the summer season. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards’ instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. This beach has received the 14001 environmental certification. For health and safety reasons, the municipal ordinances ban pets on beaches. Information about this beach may change.
