Cala Ferrera is situated at 14 kilometres from Portocolom and it has a wide sea entrance between some steep cliffs, and at a hundred metres of distance a small headland divides it into two parts, Cala Serena or Caló de ses Dones and this beach. This small sheltered sandy area is an example of mass tourism, the beach is very crowded by the visitors who come from the hotels nearby. There is also a lot of boats anchoring in this place and in the surrounding water. The best area for anchoring boats is between the beach and the nearby Cala Serena, where there is a depth that ranges from six to ten metres on a sandy ground with seaweed. Anchoring in these sandy areas is only complicated if the wind blows from the east-southeast. In the surroundings of the large natural sea entrance to access this part of the coastline of Felanitx you will see the small island of es Faralló de Cala Ferrera, where there is a depth of four metres between this and the coast. The nearest port facilities are located at Port Esportiu Marina de Cala d’Or, at 1,3 nautical miles. The accessibility by car is easy until Cala Ferrera due to the good signs from s’Horta or Cala d’Or. Parking a private car is not a problem either, because nearly all the visitors of this beach are guests of the adjacent hotels, who reach the sandy area on foot. The nearest bus stop is located at 300 metres from the coast. Information about this beach may change.
