Cala Torta or s’Aduaia is situated at 10 kilometres from Artà and it is the biggest beach of this municipality. This beautiful sandy area between low rocky places and mounds of thyme, lentisc, small palms and some pine trees comes from a short sea inlet that finishes on a system of dunes. This wild beach has a steep slope, it gets deep very soon as a result of the wind together with the swell that reaches the coast of Artà. The fact that the entrance of Cala Torta is very short explains that it is very exposed to the wind blowing from the northwest-north-northeast and east. It is an excellent place for diving, as well as for anchoring boats on a sandy ground with a depth of five metres, with a manoeuvre that requires an enormous concentration. Nevertheless the beach is very crowded by local visitors and tourists and nudism is allowed. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic Cala Ratjada, at 5,3 nautical miles. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs on a sinuous, steep and badly preserved road. The car can be left for free in the surroundings. It is possible to reach this beach by bicycle from Capdepera: 22 kilometres and in Cala Mesquida you have to take a mountain track with red points, located next to a souvenir shop, that leads to this virgin sandy area. You can also walk from Cala Mesquida. Because of this beach’s situation and exposure to winds, you must pay attention to weather conditions that make swimming and mooring boats unadvisable. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards’ instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. For health and safety reasons, the municipal ordinances ban pets on beaches. Information about this beach may change.
