Cala Xarraca is situated at 3,6 kilometres from Portinatx, located between the illots des Rencli and de sa Mesquida, as well as below the Puig de sa Xarraca (231 metres high). The puntas de sa Torre and Xarraca are the limits of the entrance to Badia de Cala Xarraca, and in the interior there are several caves, from which we are now describing the third one. The coast is characterized by the fact that it is not too big; the sand is quite fine-grained and golden, there are cliffs in the surroundings, with pine trees, scrubland and some residential and touristy buildings, as well as excellent panoramic views. There is a reef with a sharp profile in the central area of this u-shaped sea inlet; the slope is very steep, except in the area of the rock emerging from the marine ground. This ground is sandy in front of the coast and the water is crystal clear. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring of boats are not very good in the interior. If you wish to anchor you have to be careful with the rocks and you are recommended to stay next to the nearby Illot de sa Mesquida, where the depth ranges from six to eight metres on a sandy and rocky ground with seaweed. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The last three hectometres have to be done on a very steep and sinuous road. You can park your private car for free in the surroundings. You can also reach this beach with the public transport, the nearest bus stop is located at three hectometres from this place. These characteristics explain that the beach is not too crowded by local visitors and tourists. Information about this beach may change.
