Caló del Rei
Platja de Portals Vells III or Platja del Rei is situated at eight kilometres from Magaluf and it belongs to Cala Portals Vells, a sea inlet between Punta des Xisclet and s’Estaca, which is divided into different parts that finish on this sandy area, sa Caleta, sa Platgeta and Platja del Rei. This beautiful and calm beach of fine-grained white sand is very small. There is a thick pine wood with some huge trees in the surroundings of this coastline, which nearly reach the crystal-clear water that invites you to swim. The left side is sandy, whereas on the right side you will find a rocky area with gentle slope, there is a depth of only one and a half metres at one hectometre from the coast. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good in front of this beach which is open to the wind from the east-southeast. The best anchorage is located next to the headland between El Rei and El Mago, where there is a sandy ground with seaweed and the depth ranges from four to five metres. This beach is very near the Club Nàutic Portals Vells, where there is Torre des Moro, a defence fortress built in 1580. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left for free in the surroundings. From here you have to walk down a trail for two hectometres. These characteristics explain that the beach is not very crowded by local visitors. Information about this beach may change.
