Es Macar D'En Tosqueta
Es Marcar d’en Tosqueta or Cala Tosqueta is situated at 14 kilometres from es Mercadal and at 12 from Fornells, located between Cala Coves Negres and Punta Pentinat. From the coast, looking toward the sea, you can find Illa d’en Tosqueta, and looking toward the interior you will see the Mola de Fornells (green virgin area). This beach is the result of a u-shaped sea inlet which is the origin of a very small coastal corner (50 metres long), with mud. This coastal stretch is normally frequented by small boats that anchor in the bay, and it is not very crowded by local visitors and tourists. This coastal corner belongs to the municipality of es Mercadal, and the village is nearly the geographic centre of Menorca, which is in the monte Toro (358 metres high; you can reach the summit by car, although you are recommended to go on foot to enjoy the spectacular panoramic views over the island), at 3,5 kilometres from this village, which has grown next to the road that joins the two only menorcan cities, Maó and Ciutadella. The fact that it is quite near Fornells invites you to visit this most important village of the northern coast of Menorca and internationally known for the famous lobster stew. This village is located in front of a spectacular natural port which goes toward the interior for four kilometres, and it is very appreciated by the fishers of the menorcan lobster. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards’ instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. For health and safety reasons, the municipal ordinances ban pets on beaches. Information about this beach may change.
