Port des Canonge is situated at 12 kilometres from Esporles. This beautiful port of Banyalbufar is still unspoilt, although in the surroundings a village has been built. This picturesque coastal area of the Serra de Tramuntana is not sheltered and it is a cove with pebbles and coarse gravel covered by posidonia. The small fishing boats occupy the rear of this narrow beach, so that there is not much place for sunbathing. The marine and underwater conditions are not safe for anchoring boats because it is very open to the strong winds blowing from the northwest and east. This is why the small boats are beached and well tied or on the escars (dry docks which are typical for the Balearic Islands). Otherwise, the swell would push them toward the platform at the rear, with scrubland and pine trees on it. If the navigator still wants to anchor here, he will find a ground with gravel and rocks, and the depth ranges from three to five metres. You are recommended to do this manoeuvre during the day. The nearest port facilities are located at Port de Sóller, at 9,1 nautical miles. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The last six kilometres have to be done on a sinuous road (curbs of 180 degrees). The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings. You can also reach this beach on foot on the trail Volta des General between Banyalbufar and Port des Canonge. There is another track toward Port de Valldemossa. These characteristics explain that the beach is not too crowded by local visitors and tourists. Information about this beach may change.
