El Toro or Racó de sa Fragata is situated at seven kilometres from Santa Ponça, next to Port Adriano. The name is given by the Arab word for door, and it comes from the nearby Illot del Toro, the small island that is the access point to the bay of Medina Mayurqa (Palma nowadays) for the Arabs that dominated Majorca until the first three decades of the 13th century. The inlet formed between Punta Prima and sa Punta des Carregador has only one beach, el Toro, an area with fine-grained golden sand. At the rear there is a vertical natural wall of a reddish colour, a result of the iron oxide in the substract of this area, which gives the name to the nearby Cala de ses Penyes Roges. On these cliffs a village was built. This is why the beach is very crowded by local visitors. The fact that this beach, which is sheltered from the winds from the south, is located next to the entrance of Port Adriano explains that it is unusual to see boats anchoring in the surroundings. nevertheless, the navigator has to know that the marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are excellent on a sandy ground with seaweed, where the depth ranges from three to five metres. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left on a free parking area. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located in the surroundings. Information about this beach may change.
