Platja de Son Caliu is situated at eight kilometres from Calvià, between es Carregador and Punta des Carabiners. This small coastal stretch of the municipality of Calvià is very quiet, although it is located next to the crowded are of Palmanova; it is quite long and narrow. This coast has a golden sand with some rests of posidonia and there you can see two different areas: the most urban area, where the sand has been replaced by the buildings for some typical facilities on the beach, and the other part, which is wilder, with a natural setting in this area of Platja de Son Caliu. These characteristics explain that the beach is crowded by local visitors and tourists. The marine and underwater conditions are not safe for anchoring boats. The beach is exposed to the winds from the southeast and south. But there is a sandy ground with seaweed and the depth ranges from three to five metres. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic Santa Ponça, at 0,8 nautical miles. The accessibility by car is easy until Palmanova following the signs. Once you are here you have to take calle Miguel Machado which takes to Avenida Son Caliu next to the beach. The private car can be left for free in the streets of this village. You can also reach this beach with the public transport. The nearest bus stop is located at Palmanova. Information about this beach may change.
