Badia Blava
Badia Blava is situated at 15 kilometres from Llucmajor and there is a bathing area which consists of sArc de Sant Martí, Roca des Milans and Racó de sAlmadrava, which is normally used by the residents of the villages of Badia Blava and Badia Gran, constructed on the superior base of a vertical and high cliff which reaches its major height at Cap de la Regana (100 metres above the sea level). This coast is characterized by breathtaking cliffs and the steep descends (davalladors) which reach the Mediterranean Sea. The access to the bathing area of Badia Gran has to be done through es Pujador des Frares (the slope of the monks) and Pas des Vero (pass of Vero). These tracks, now tarmaced, where for some centuries the access to the coast for fishers, pirates and, above all, smugglers. These cliffs were also used to extract the marès (a sandstone of golden or rose shades), which can constantly be found in the southern majorcan landscape, and it was also used for the construction of the Cathedral of Palma (ses Pedreres de la Seu). The marine conditions advise against the anchoring of boats, because this coast is not sheltered at all from the wind or the sea currents. But it is a very popular place amongst divers, there are rocks, sand and submarine vegetation. The nearest port is Club Nàutic s’Arenal. Information about this beach may change.
