Cala Mandia

Cala Mendia is situated at three kilometres from Portocristo. The cliffs keep the surroundings of this sea inlet which continues for 150 metres toward the interior and finishes on a fine-grained, white sandy area, wide and large. The water is crystal clear and the beach is open to the winds from the northeast and east, with an excellent sandy ground for anchoring boats. The depth ranges from four metres at 150 metres from the coast to 2,7 metres at a hectometre from the beach, and only one metre at 50 metres from the coast. The nearest port facilities are located at Port de Portocristo, at 2,2 nautical miles. Cala Mendia has a natural swimming basin of white and blue colours when the wind blows from the north-northwest-west and it is the starting point to swim until the nearby Cala Anguila, passing the rocky headland which divides them. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left on a free parking area in the surroundings of Cala Mendia. These characteristics explain that the beach and the nearby Cala Romàntica are full of hotel and restaurant activity and very crowded by tourists. From this sandy area you might reach on foot Cala Anguila, following a coastal trail, you can visit the caves of Drac or Hams, and you can go to the agricultural village of Son Macià and reach the Puig de sa Bandera (333 metres).
