Cala o Caló d’en Marçal is situated at one kilometre from Portocolom, next to the entrance to the port with the same name. This beautiful sea inlet becomes wider toward the coast and is quite sheltered from the swell. This large sandy area is surrounded by low cliffs and it continues for a hundred metres on the dry torrent. At the rear of the cove, there are some tall pine trees that give their shade to be protected from the sun and there is also some scrubland. This beach is the widest and easiest to reach of Felanitx. Cala d’en Marçal is an other example of mass tourism on a coastal area. In this place the visitors are normally guests of the hotels nearby. The marine and underwater conditions are good for anchoring boats on a sandy ground in the central part of this beach and rocky with seaweed on the sides. The depth is four metres at two hectometres from the coast. The nearest port facilities are located at Port de Portocolom, at 1,3 nautical miles. The accessibility by car is easy from Portocolom or from s’Horta following the signs. The private car can be left on a free parking area at a few metres from this sandy area. These characteristics explain that the beach is very crowded by tourists. Information about this beach may change.
