Cala Tugores
Cala en Tugores is situated at seven kilometres from ses Salines, and it is the most southern beach of Mallorca, together with Platja d’es Caragol. This sandy area can only be reached on foot, this is why it is the beach which is less frequented between Colònia de Sant Jordi and Cap de ses Salines. There are only two options to get there: from the lighthouse of ses Salines, walking along the coast for 3,6 kilometres, or from Colònia de Sant Jordi along its beaches (es Port, es Dolç and es Carbó) for 5,4 kilometres and one hour of duration. Once you are there, at Cala en Tugores, you may visit s’Estany de ses Gambes, a natural lake with marine birds. This sandy area is full of pine trees and bushes deformed by the southern wind. Its coast is covered by a posidonia meadow of one meter of thickness (a sort of seaweed with long leaves that are the natural substract for a lot of marine organisms and very important for the depuration of the water of the coast. The water is transparent, but the navigators must be careful, because at 200 metres from the coast there is a depth of only one and a half metres, whereas a rocky ground with seaweed is the limit of the very small entrance channel. The nearest port facilities are located at Port Colònia de Sant Jordi, at 3,2 nautical miles. Information about this beach may change.
