Caló des Mort is situated at 10 kilometres from Sant Francesc Xavier, between Platja des Migjorn and es Ram, as well as next to the village of Maryland. In this natural setting nudism is allowed. It has one of the best panoramic views of this part of Formentera. This coastal corner belongs to the big bay de Migjorn (six miles large and two miles long), in the southern area of the island, surrounded by Punta d’Anguila and de sa Fragata, including also Punta des Vell Marí, es Corb Marí, es Mal Pas, racons de s’Argelar y Fondo, es Valencians y es Ram. This nearly virgin cove which has the shape of a smile is characterized by the fact of being very small, it is a rocky beach with crystal clear water and there are some “escars” (typical dry docks for small boats). After the stony area of this beautiful coast you will find the thick es Copinyar which leads then to Bosc de sa Pujada.Es Copinyer is the area just before the highest point of Formentera, la Mola (192 metres), where you can visit Nostra Senyora del Pilar church, built between the years 1785 and 1794, following the characteristics of the popular architecture. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are not very safe, you have to be very careful because there are lots of obstacles in the proximity of the coast. You are recommended to stay away from this rocky coastline. When the beach has a lifeguard service, you must follow the lifeguards’ instructions and the warnings on flags. A red flag indicates dangerous swimming conditions and means that swimming is not permitted. A yellow flag indicates that precaution must be taken, but that swimming is permitted. A green flag indicates that swimming is permitted. An orange flag is used to indicate that the lifeguard is absent. Act cautiously when no lifeguard is present or the service is not available and enjoy the beach without taking any unnecessary risks. For health and safety reasons, the municipal ordinances ban pets on beaches. Information about this beach may change.
