De Portals Vells Ii- El Mago

Portals Vells II or Platja del Mago is situated at eight kilometres from Magaluf and it belongs to Cala Portals Vells, the sea inlet between Punta des Xisclet and s’Estaca, which is divided into different parts that finish on this sandy area, sa Caleta, sa Platgeta and Platja del Rei. The name of el Mago is used since 1967, the year in which the film with the same name and starred by Anthony Quinn and Michael Caine was filmed on its coast. There a still some rests of the set on the sandy area which is formed by two beaches. This film was supposed to be filmed in Greece, but since there was the coup of the colonels was staged, it was set in Majorca. Platja del Mago is also known as the first official nudist beach of the municipality of Calvià, like the beaches of s’Olla and Bella Dona. This is why it is not very crowded by local visitors. The water is quiet and crystal clear in this small and beautiful beach with fine-grained white sand. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are excellent. This sandy area which is open to the wind from the east-southeast has a sandy ground with seaweed and the depth ranges from four to five metres. This beach is very near Club Nàutic Portals Vells. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be left for free in the surroundings. Information about this beach may change.
