Cala Jondal or es Jondal is situated at 10 kilometres from Sant Josep de sa Talaia next to es Xarco, and it belongs to the big bay of Porroig, located between Punta de Porroig and des Jondal, as well as below Puig des Jondal (160 metres high). The name is given by the torrent that irrigates these southern rural areas. The coastal stretch is characterized by the big size, the surface is made of pebbles with sandy areas and the slope is very gentle (at 30 metres from the coast there is a depth of 1,8 metres), the orientation is toward south, there is frequent swell, and the ground is covered by pebbles next to the beach and sand in the interior of the bay, which is closed beach high cliffs and vegetation next to the coastline. The marine and underwater conditions for anchoring boats are good. It is a very open beach which is exposed to the wind from the southeast-south-southwest. There are two anchorages, one in the east, at one hectometre from the coast, on a sandy ground, with a depth that ranges from four to eight metres, as well as in the west, at seventy metres from the beach, on a sandy ground with seaweed, with a depth between five and nine metres. The accessibility by car is easy following the signs and the deviations. The last two kilometres have to be done on a track. The private car can be left on a free parking area. These characteristics explain that the beach is not too crowded by local visitors and tourists. Information about this beach may change.
